Change Makers In Computing Alumni Program

Organization: Univeristy of Washington + Microsoft

My Role: Senior Program Manager

 

Objective: The Allen School sought to create a sustainable alumni engagement initiative connecting students, alumni, and industry partners while strengthening the Allen School's relationship with Microsoft. No formal alumni engagement structure existed for this initiative.

 

Approach:

  • Collaborated with Microsoft and university stakeholders to define program goals
  • Designed engagement opportunities for alumni participation
  • Coordinated communications, planning, and program logistics
  • Developed a framework for long-term program sustainability

Outcome:

  • Successfully launched the alumni engagement program

Apprenticeship Week Program (Annual Multi-Location Event Series)

Organization: Machinists Institute

My Role: Community & Student Engagement Manager

 

Objective: Successfully execute a large-scale, multi-day Apprenticeship Week designed to promote Machinists Institute programs across Washington State. The event required coordination across multiple regions, venues, and stakeholders while ensuring consistent messaging and strong attendance across all locations.

 

Approach:

  • Led planning and execution of a four-day statewide event series across Washington

  • Partnered with Regional Directors to define event structure, agenda, and local execution plans

  • Developed and managed detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, dependencies, and task ownership

  • Coordinated stakeholders to ensure seamless day-of, on-site execution

  • Monitored progress across all locations and adjusted plans to address risks, gaps, and last-minute changes

Objective: Increase awareness of clean energy programs among vulnerable and highly impacted communities throughout Washington.

My Role: Outreach Specialist

 

Objective: Develop and implement a K–12 outreach strategy that expanded access to computing education while aligning with grant requirements, diversity initiatives, and institutional goals.

 

Approach:

  • Created strategic outreach plans aligned with the Allen School's Broadening Participation Plan and DEI objectives

  • Established partnerships with five regional high schools serving students underrepresented in computing

  • Collaborated with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to design and deliver outreach programming

  • Led outreach initiatives, events, and engagement activities to increase student awareness of computing pathways

Outcomes

  • Strengthened relationships with five partner high schools across the Puget Sound region

  • Expanded computing education opportunities for K–12 students
